The Brumfield Angus Story
The Brumfield Farms story was seeded in Frank Brumfield’s mind as a child. The former CBOT futures trader and current owner of FSB companies grew up on a cattle and row crop farm in the Mississippi Delta. He has been surrounded by the Angus cattle business for as long as he can remember. Both of his grandfathers and his father raised commercial and registered Angus when he was a child. His participation in 4H from his early years, exhibiting both steers and heifers, formed an indelible impression. Inspired by his roots in the cattle business and his affinity for it, Frank Brumfield started Brumfield Angus Farms in 2008, with the purchase of four good registered heifers that he brought to his farm in Three Oaks, Michigan. Since that humble beginning, Brumfield’s appetite has grown to pursue a mission to build a herd of great cattle families. He firmly believes the combination of acquiring the right genetics and formulating a sound business plan can result in producing top performing genetics. OUR MISSION Over the last couple of years, Brumfield Angus Farms has been very aggressive and strategic in their pursuit of some of the best genetics in the U.S. Through various acquisitions, we have obtained several of the top proven influential donors of the Angus Breed. Brumfield Angus Farms has acquired several key members of two of the true foundation cow families in the Angus Breed: the famous performance-based Lady family and members of the Schaff Angus Valley record producing Blackcap May family. To complete the outstanding genetic influence on the Brumfield herd, we have also acquired several other diverse, prominent leading bloodlines to shape the future of the Brumfield Angus herd. OUR GENETICS Brumfield Angus currently provides all of the registered bulls that have to work in the realistic and unforgiving conditions of the Brumfield Farms commercial operation, 3B Land & Livestock. 3B is located in Wilsall, Montana. The commercial herd was started in 2011 by Brumfield with the acquisition of some good bred heifers from Sitz Angus and KG Angus, both of Montana. 3B continues to grow and thrive as we strive to keep improving the genetics and performance of the overall herd. The Brumfield registered bulls have to have good feet and legs to be able to cover ground, raise heavy calves, and transmit true, good maternal characteristics of fertility, udders and functionality, along with performance traits of grade and gain. All of these traits are economically crucial to the 3B commercial herd's success, both for producing the feeder calves we retain and feed out and for producing the next generation replacements at 3B Land & Livestock. OUR FOCUS Currently at Brumfield Angus Farms, we are being very progressive in the field of reproductive technology and genetics. Brumfield believes in pushing the envelope with extensive use of IVF and Embryo transfer in regard to advancing the superior genetics of his herd. Our goal is to be relevant in the Angus Industry. We strive and desire to be a consistent source of high end genetics for anyone looking to move their herd forward in today's very competitive Angus landscape.
